The Whole World in His Mouth
Krishna's friends ran to Yashoda. “He's been eating mud!” they cried. Yashoda hurried over, knelt down, and said, “Open your mouth, little one — let me see.”
Krishna opened wide. And inside his small mouth Yashoda saw the sky and the stars, the rivers and the mountains, the sun and the moon — the whole wide universe, shining.
She blinked, and he was just her giggling baby again, a little mud on his lip. Yashoda hugged him, her heart full of wonder she could not explain.
